I think I have the most important job for our up coming trip. I am in charge of making the playlists and let me tell ya, when I make a playlist all other playlists bow down before it. Why? Half is song selection, which is stellar, and the other half is the meticulous effort I put forth in arranging it so every single song flows nicely. You can't go from an upbeat song strait to a slow song, you must mesh them together! The playlist needs to be a continuous gradient of good.
Music is hella important in long car trip and let me tell ya, we got a few. The playlist for the drive to Tennessee, a delightful ten hour drive we're doing in one day, is title "HeeHaw! Tennessee Travelin' Tunes" and at this point is only 7 hours long. What is it loaded with? Um country music, dur. We are going to Nashville.
Then it is another glorious ten hour drive to Washington DC with playlist entitled "Is that the Washington Monument in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" Which has some patriotic songs and well, just a bunch of other shit.
I'm thinking about making one for the journey home, a delicious 14 hour drive. Perhaps entitled something like "Return to Wisconsin: The Long Journey Home" I don't know. That's just the working title right now. It might be better.
34 hours approximately in the truck. Yikes. Five full sized human beings in a truck that only fits five. Tight squeeze? Chya. Tempers flaring? I'm guessing at some point. And we aren't spending any nights on the road. Driving straight through. Which really won't be bad and lets face it, better because we are all staying in one hotel room after all.
A-bag and I pretty much planned the entire Washington trip so we got everything down to a certain science. We bought food, water and pop for the road so we will minimize our money spending at gas stations. And I'm taking a stash of sleeping pills because my dad snores. And well, I can't handle that while trying to sleep. So if it comes down to it, hello non-dependent sleep aide!
Alright. I got shit to do. Adios amigos.
