Faces in the crowd

So more and more I am starting to recognize people from work outside of work. Customers I should say. More and more I am starting to pick up on the 'ol regulars and have started to assign nicknames to them as well.

I've done this once before (I don't think the pictures are working) but, alas, there are still some of the same regulars. Tweedledee in particular.

Now I have some new ones to add! Well they aren't really new it's just that I've finally decided to stick them with nicknames.

First we have Rug. He is a man who has a very bad toupee. I think the name is self-explanatory.

Then we have Cig lady or Parliament Lights Lady. She comes in once, maybe twice a week and buys a carton of Parliaments. Retail price? $71 and some odd change. She also talks weird.

Honey Berry Cigar Man. He buys honey berry cigars. I don't even know why I bother asking what he needs out of the case.

SmileyCreepster. He's a nice enough dude, he just smiles too much. Yes. That is possible.

Gosh, now I'm blanking with the pressure on....

NotFunnyMoneyOldDude. (ok so these names aren't exactly what I call them, they are just how I recall them...) This guy always pays in cash and he'll give you the change first and then ask," Oh, did you want the rest?" to which I always reply," Yeah, they'll get a little made at me if I don't." I think after I told him I'd take my changes with the Secret Service he doesn't pay me in big bills anymore. Have I told the story? Oh idk. One day he gave me a 50 or 100 and I hit it with the counterfeit pen and he said "You know that's illegal! That's defacing money!" And I said "Well the way I see it is they'll probably like it better if I were to catch a counterfeit bill and not care about the streak. I'll take my chances with the Secret Service if they come after me." He told me it was very good logic, I told him that's what a college education gets you. The ability to think, reason and problem solve. (Hey I'm not making that shit up! They tell you that! They say one of the biggest differences between a tech school education and a university education is not only do you learn more then just your discipline, you also learn "critical thinking skills." I couldn't make that up! Well, ok find I could... but I didn't!)

...wow. I did just do that.

Where was I? Oh there are more I just can't think of them all...I need to start taking notes on little peices of paper again to remember everything!

There is one more and that's Alan Alda. (BTW why is it I can't go a week without having Alan Alda in a crossword?) This old dufffer looks like Hawkeye himself. I'd say perhaps he is AA but he's a little young. I do have to card him for alcohol. He seems really old for his age though which is a little sad. He was born in the early 50s and he seems like he should be in his 70s. My theory is perhaps something happened to him in 'Nam. Yeah. I said it. He carries an old Army rucksack so that's where I'm getting my theory from. Anyway, Alan Alda is a really nice old man. Some of the old people are nice in a tolerable way but 70% of the time they are just a little annoying. Double A is nice without being annoying and he seems like he means it when he says things which is such a rarity.

Today Alan was in and he told me he really liked my name. I just sort of laughed it off but then he said no, he really likes the name! He always has and if he was a woman he would want it to be his name. And then I sort of laughed it off again and he said no, seriously! He would want my name if he was a girl. Oddly enough I believed him. We'll see if he says it some other time when he's in.

There are more people, I just know it. Then of course the newest development is I get to see all my friends from the government meetings I got to go to for my other job. I see some of the elected officials, I see people who just go to the meetings. One woman stopped me at a meeting and asked me where she knew me from. I said the store and that got an "Oooooooh, yes! That's how!!!" reaction. I find it very weird to be sitting in a room full of people, look around and know that I know about a quarter of them from coming in to the store.

On a completely random note, any NCIS fans must buy the soundtracks. I have both. Vol. 1 came out sometime last spring and Vol. 2 came out in the fall or something. I just picked up the second one and once again it is amazing. Another great thing? Tony DiNozzo aka Michael Weatherly sings on it. Abby and Ziva sing on the first volume which was good but come on, it's DiNozzo! It's a good song, he's got a nice voice. Listen to it!

Ok. I think I've blogged enough for today.

Keep cool my babies! (kickin' it Conan style right there!)
